Re: Daily WTF
Guys, just wait till we get room temperature superconductors......
Re: Daily WTF
If you knew how many kg of copper I own, you would definitely think that :-) I was getting it so cheap though that I could have sold it for scrap and made a profit!davebmw wrote:Methinks someone has a cable fetish!!!
Still, that was to point out that transmission at typical DC voltages would require a rather significant conductor indeed. I would NEVER use a silver cable myself, people that believe in skin factor at audio frequencies should be taken out and shot IMO ;-)

Burglar victims wake to spice rub, sausage attack
A burglar who broke into a home just east of Fresno rubbed food seasoning over the body of one of two men as they slept in their rooms and then used an 8-inch sausage to whack the other man on the face and head before running out of the house, Fresno County sheriff's deputies said Saturday.
Lt. Ian Burrimond, describing the crime as one of the strangest he's ever heard of, said a suspect was found hiding in a nearby field a few minutes later and taken into custody on suspicion of residential robbery.
Deputies, he said, had no problem linking the suspect to the crime.
Antonio Vasquez Jr.
"It seems the guy ran out of the house wearing only a T-shirt, boxer shorts and socks, leaving behind his wallet with his ID," Burrimond said.
Arrested was Antonio Vasquez Jr., 21, of Fresno.
Burrimond said deputies headed to the victims' home in the 300 block of South Thompson Avenue near Kings Canyon Road shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday regarding a burglary in progress.
The victims, both farmworkers, told deputies they were awakened by a stranger applying "Pappy's Seasoning" to one of them and striking the other with a sausage.
Both the spices and the sausage, Burrimond said, reportedly were obtained from the victims' kitchen.
After the man fled, the victims discovered the home had been ransacked and that some money was taken, Burrimond said.
Burrimond said the money was recovered, but that the piece of sausage used in the attack was discarded by the suspect and eaten by a dog.
"That's right, the dog ate the weapon," Burrimond said.
"I tell you, this was one weird case."
Re: Daily WTF
My old PC Win98 was getting close to the time for a new reload of win98, as it seems to need this every 3 years or so. So eventually, like last week, I got a new box with XP, twice the ram (1 gig) and 3 times the processor speed (3 gig P4) and it is a slower PC. wtf? what happened in 10 years? Slower at opening up any program, slower at shutting down a program, just slow, and this is a fresh new install without any added apps that will slow it down even more. Bummer. A bit like everyone gets used to increased traffic congestion on the roads, and just accepts it? The roads I used to use for half throttle and WOT tuning used to have very little traffic but that has changed now. The temptation to do a WOT run while datalogging is strong and results in 160kmh in 3rd gear, but a $1000 fine and 6 month loss of license and be told by the magistrate that you are a menace/danger to society is not a nice thought. "But sir, I was only trying to tune the engine to reduce my carbon footprint and only exceeded the speed limit for a total of less than 15 seconds on a straight road with no traffic in sight and with full visibility of any vehicles/pedestrians/animals that might enter onto the road" will not work. Will be treated as a criminal because the law was broken. wtf? Makes a dyno look cheap

Re: Daily WTF
Fill your car to the gunwales with heavy stuff and do that WOT run in second at the same rate of acceleration ;-)
As for the PC, try a Linux. Ubuntu (as much as I hate it with a vengeance) does work well for people that just use a PC.
I used an old 350mhz machine for a while, it was usable and reasonable an would *just* do full screen video playback, but not very well.

Re: Daily WTF
I dunno about daily WTF, but perhaps daily LOL, 6 people to restrain one chic??? LOL, too many donuts eaten I reckon. I thought literally playing chicken. In fact, the first one probably wouldn't have been bowled if the cop hadn't grabbed her jacket. Her judgment of timing and gaps would have been screwed by that. All in all a good laugh, thanks for the link! :-)

Re: Daily WTF
I guess this is a WTF relative to the WTF

So I guess I can't watch.

Re: Daily WTF
Just get a UK proxy. That's a crock of shlt, not dissimilar to the TV licensing BS that I had to deal with.
