Re: 2.x JimStim Support Request

Fred,

Are you able to get the dynamic RPM working? As I mentioned, I can't get it to work with the released version.

Re: 2.x JimStim Support Request

Depending on the RPM variation, either type of file can be the larger one. And it also depends if the software reading the file interpolates between RPM values and sends at the fastest speed for smooth transitions. In any case, it doesn't matter much because it's not too difficult to make an externa...

Re: 2.x JimStim Support Request

I also noticed that you can't enter a down going RPM sequence, i.e., a higher start than end. Secondly, it is a triangle wave form that he creates. It goes up, then down, then up, etc for ever. So unless you don't want to wait for the up part, I don't see a problem. It would be nice to take arbitra...

Re: 2.x JimStim Support Request

I've loaded the latest MTX version on Windows and it went well. Quick install and JimStim detected fine. Static RPM setting works fine but I can't get the dynamic RPM to work. No matter what I enter, the JimStim RPM is unaffected and only the GUI goes through the sequence. I also noticed that you ca...

Re: 2.x JimStim Support Request

Serial port speed is set at startup and never again. So you need to change the setting, burn it and do a power cycle.

Re: 2.x JimStim Support Request

Dave, I agree that having the baud rate in the GUI could cause issues and that in most cases faster won't be better. But there might be specific cases where faster would be better and the side effects of the higher baud rate might be of less importance. This is why it has been put there but I don't ...

Re: 2.x JimStim Support Request

The 60 RPM lower limit was a design decision to simplify the timer configuration and avoid some inconsistencies when changing the pre-scale. As for the rest, as far as I can tell it's all external to the JimStim. It will handle any data that can be sent to it at configured data rate. By the way, the...

Re: 2.x JimStim Support Request

I should add that the logic for RPM change in the JimStim is as basic as it can be, i.e., when the new RPM is received the next computed interval will reflect this new RPM. So if you want to have a more realistic RPM variation, you want to have the smallest RPM increment for each new RPM value trans...

Re: 2.x JimStim Support Request

David, The idea was to reduce the overhead as much as possible so that you could simulate the smoothest transistions possible. You can still use the non-interactive mode but it can at best be 3 times slower (but that may be sufficient). As for getting the realtime data, there is no true realtime dat...

Re: 2.x JimStim Support Request

Dave, The endianness is the same and I assumed you would use the same but I mentioned it because that would explain what Fred was seeing. I never even had to think about it with either MT or TS and the ini works with both (actually, I need to use a trimmed down number of wheel patterns with MT since...
