Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD

Wow, after seeing your response, I have to actually apologize for wasting your time. I gave NO up front explanation. The source signal is 0 or 12 V digital I want to drive a 12 V signal (actually, it's a switched ground), but at a higher current than the original signal may reliably support. I alrea...

Re: DIYEFI (Fred's) 1990 Volvo 740 Wagon

I'd love to, but I already bought that car once. :-)

Actually, I have to say, I really liked it. Want to trade for a 97 sentra?

Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD

OMG this is killing me! So, I have a megasquirt II provided switched 12V source. http://abefm.smugmug.com/MegaSquirt-Stuff/NB-MS-Adapterboard/Schematics-and-Issues/darlington12v/719156950_XyHTb-L.png If I don't want to blow the 5V input, I need to clamp the upper voltage. If I put an inline resistor...

Re: Injector Control Options

http://abefm.smugmug.com/FreeEMS/Build-10 This is the stuff I did for the project, wow, many months ago. Specifically in the second test: http://abefm.smugmug.com/FreeEMS/Build-10/Injector-test-Circuit-2/IMG3887/368888485_5r2Mt-L.jpg It's hard to pick out, but I remember being pretty convinced that ...

Re: Slacker Cam's FreeEMS Proto Hardware

I have now ditched the vreg on the TA board and simply jumpered it - turning the unregulated input header into a strictly regulated 5V input (well it was Fred that did this part actually :) ). You have to watch out for Fred. He'll do that. At least I got a bottle of wine out of the deal. It's looki...

Re: Injector Control Options

That's what I got out of it too - it's length of time to detect various faults. The heat.. Sounds like a lot, but isn't. 1 watt will happily radiate away. And it's not one 100% of the time. If you're that worried, thermal-glue a small heatsink on the chip. It's sold as PWM capable, even without look...

Re: Injector Control Options

That's pretty amazing. :-) Any idea what they cost?

Certainly the GPIO capability simplifies things. I'd say put two on the board, and 6 or 8 cyl could use both, everyone else could run 8 extra accessories.

Re: We need to lay out a basic board

See what everyone else says but it's fine by me. Keeping size to a minimum isn't as important in the test board. As I recall, the injector circuits (for instance) were never entirely figured out - this would be a great opportunity to try them... I would say if you lay them out with an eye on getting...
