Re: Fred's 1998 Stagea 25X Four Long Term Project

Actually, I didn't read in detail and was assuming yours was only a 2WD. So most of what I wrote is already done for you and you are right, the existing diffs should be ok.

Manual conversion required parts and instructions link: http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/331327-my-manual-conversion-findings/?hl=manual%20conversion Just FYI, it seems that the info in that link is for 2wd manual conversion (even though they use the GTR gear box). You will need a lot more bits t...

Interesting wideband/lambda calibration checker

I stumbled upon this a while ago and thought some of you wideband freaks on here might be interested, USD$599 seems pretty reasonable if it works as claimed: http://performancetrends.com/Air-Fuel-O2-Lambda-Sensor-Checker-Calibrator.htm I have a few other pieces of gear and software from Performance ...

Re: FreeEMS Powered '89 Ford Courier FE-DOHC Turbo (DSL bewa

I suggest you should get the head hardness tested if you haven't already done so. I remember the SOHC FE heads were very prone to "going soft" so perhaps the DOHC suffers the same fate. Any big engine reconditioner should be able to do a basic hardness test. It should ideally be about 110B...

Re: Hentai's Wacked out Ideas

The goal isn't to lean out for gas mileage but not to change from running at stoichmetric just to accelerate the vehicle or because you enter positive pressure. At the racing side I understand going lap after lap requires enough fuel to make power and keep the cylinder cool enough not to cause pre ...

Re: Hentai's Wacked out Ideas

Stuff I dislike, the common idea of you go into boost you must run richer than stoich or 100kpa\WOT requires you go to richer than stoich This idea leads to wasted fuel on daily driven vehicle with some add power. I mostly only tune race engines where fuel economy is not even a consideration so don...

Re: NB vs WB

That's an optimistic graph that relies on the sensor being up to temperature, and varies, a lot, with temperature. Probably varies a lot between one an the next too. Also over a narrow Voltage range, so errors are large, etc. He was specifying 14.7, at which point, no, no way, can you use it to hol...

Re: NB vs WB

Fine, Fred, let me rephrase that; if the AFR is CONSTANT at 14.7:1... why would the [sensor] OUTPUT also not be constant?? OEM narrowband output oscillates because the fueling is oscillating. I would say if you had some very high accuracy combustion apparatus that could give you exhaust gas with a ...

Re: Standalone selection for Toyota 4runner

I have to correct myself here after some thinking. Half my family is Polsky/Uky so I grew up with disparaging ethnic jokes- and being an ex soviet bloc country I figured low tech, but that is a generation ago and I should give the EMU a second look. Features that caught my attention were the strong...

Re: Standalone selection for Toyota 4runner

I have a similar feeling to Baldur - in that from what you have posted here it seems very much like a tuner problem. The VEMS certainly has some quirks but generally isn't too difficult to get it to work. 5 minutes with a scope attached to the trigger and a coil would tell him straight away if the p...
