Re: USB comms
Alright, so I got some testing done... Could not even get my inverter running on my old weak POS 12V car battery that I'm using from time to time in the electronics workshop. Scoped the +/- terminals while loading the inverter with my laptop charger, and it went down from 12 to like 7 volts and took...

Re: USB comms
Got some more updates on the whole USB-coms issues subject. I recently got a new engine built for my good old thrustworthy Beetle. Check it out! Norwegian forum, but the pics from my machining sessions are quite nice :) http://www.vwnorge.no/index.php/topic,69232.0.html Firing up the above mentioned...

Re: USB comms
Thanks, Fred
I'd say it's a cool feature that distinguishes this particular product from others in a way that it has been given a bit more finesse. But like I mentioned, the control loop has not as of yet been triggered and made a reset in normal operation during mapping/loging along the road.

Re: USB comms
Cool thread! Thought I could chime in after some testing of my own setup. Made my own USB/BT expansion board for my own ECU design. Dealing with RS232 adapters sucks living in 2016... Been testing this setup on multiple vehicles now, both with expensive shielded cables (without ferrite beads though)...

Re: Open Source LSU4.9 Wideband Controller
Thank you, Dtm. It's not ment for replacing any stock VAG-ECU - I simply thought I used one of those cases as I had one lying around. Let's put it this way; irregardless of the firmware of choice (for the moment), doing automotive hardware design that works in the real world continues to give me val...

Re: Open Source LSU4.9 Wideband Controller
After some testing today with my propane torch (yeah, I don't have fancy lab gas lying around), I have made some new discoveries. If i simulate a very low AFR value with my torch, say 10:1. The AFR drops like it should as a result of the pump amp driving the pump cell in one direction. But suddenly ...

Re: Open Source LSU4.9 Wideband Controller
Thanks for the input. Cool concern, but the programming is not a problem ;-) Happens in like two seconds. The heater measures 3.5 Ohms, so that's good - was the first thing I did. That being said, the heat-up cycle works like it should. It's when it goes into closed loop mode that the controller can...

Re: Open Source LSU4.9 Wideband Controller
hehe, the heater is obviously in order
The problem seems to be the nernst cell giving erratic readings, making both the pump current amp go bananas, and also the temp feedback.
Have you looked at my schematic?

Re: Open Source LSU4.9 Wideband Controller
Bench testing the sensor with a different controller in the lab right now. same issue. Unstable. New sensor works fine ;-) I have mounted it slightly face down, as the datasheet describes. It started happening when the weather got slightly colder during the night. Do you think my ramp ut is to quick...
