Re: Via's 87 Toyota Supra Turbo (29th)

Just as an update, I've been wiring up a Jaguar 0.7 alpha board to the supra with all new sensor wiring, with the goal of doing the grounding and shielding more correctly and thus having lower noise. I finally just got everything wired, and I'm about to start testing the outputs before trying to fir...

Re: FreeEMS on an AW11 4AGZE

I have a toyota 7mgte with a very similar CPS setup. In mine, G- is the ground, NE is the 24 tooth, and G1/G2 are individual 180* opposing pickups for the 1 tooth wheel. I just picked one and used it as the sync. Using the Max9926 is strongly recommended over the LM chip for that -- I couldn't get t...

Re: Jaguar 0.7-alpha kits For Sale

I'd like to get two bare boards (#1) and a full assembled board (#4) with the 250 kpa map, noninverting drivers, and the case.

Re: Via's 87 Toyota Supra Turbo (29th)

After a few more tweaks to VE/lambda during an hour-ish drive around, and after retarding timing a good bit until I can sense knock, here's a log. Note that this is about after an hour of driving, and a few times turning the car off -- it suffers greatly from heat soak. I would ignore the lean-ness ...

Re: Via's 87 Toyota Supra Turbo (29th)

Attached is small log of me driving on the latest code updates. Seems to not miss in the 2500 region anyway, although that wasn't something super visible in the logs anyway. There's a good bit of noise in the inputs, more than there was so I undoubtedly screwed something up mucking in all the wires ...

Re: Via's 87 Toyota Supra Turbo (29th)

I checked the timing, it looked great and stable. I drove it to work and it can under little load rev to redline, however there's still some miss going on around 2200 and a tiny bit above 5000, but far far less than before. It's totally drivable in those regions. Some of it is probably tuning relate...

Re: Via's 87 Toyota Supra Turbo (29th)

Decreasing the dwell significantly appears to have solved the problem. I'm set at 2.1ms now, and the log is attached.

I'll drive it again tomorrow and give a report on success.

Re: Via's 87 Toyota Supra Turbo (29th)

Today I: - Replaced spark plugs. The old ones weren't in great shape, but they didn't look unworkable either. - Cleaned out the spark galley of the little bit of oil down there - Replaced the wires from the igniter to the coils. None of these things made the tiniest difference. I can reproduce the p...

Re: Via's 87 Toyota Supra Turbo (29th)

I definetely have ignition problems, and they aren't just limited to that one rpm range. Tends to happen a lot about 4000 rpms even with good looking AFRs. I'm going to replace the wires from the igniter to the coils soon, that might be the culprit. I've had some trouble with them before, but I thou...

Re: Via's 87 Toyota Supra Turbo (29th)

I finished getting the new ignitor hooked up and re-timed today. I haven't spent a huge amount of time tuning so its not terribly better in terms of closeness-to-lambda, but while overall it is much better you can still see the areas under load around 2200 rpms where it vibrates a bit, sometimes mis...
