Re: BrickEMS.com
I do small quantity PCB design/development all the time (professionally). We have most of our boards fabbed/assembled in china even for the small lots and their quality is typically way better than anything we can do in house. At the prices they charge it is not even remotely worth it for us to buil...

Re: BrickEMS.com
Are you actually building these up yourself by hand?
If it makes it any easier I could build mine myself too... I would be very satisfied with a bare PCB.

Re: BrickEMS.com
Blast! I should have ordered one ages ago when they were available!
I samples some MAX chips... guess I'll just rig something on a proto board.

Re: Thermo couple input conditioning
My design was basically: 2x AD595's 2x ADG507A - A 8 channel, two input multiplexer. This allows both + and - pins of the TC to be multiplexed. I believe this chip was recommended on an analog devices app note. This allowed 16 channels of TC. Design has a 15V switching supply to feed the 595's. This...

Re: Thermo couple input conditioning
This topic is a bit old at this point... but hey it is still on the first page of threads :) One thing that wasn't mentioned previously is that the Analog devices chips can be MUCH cheaper if you need more than about 4 channels. Since the speed is so high, you can run the chip through an analog mult...

Re: Ion Sensing ideas and circuit designs
Wow I didn't realize how common ion sensing ignition had become. Guess all the patents ran out :) I'll have to poke around some more and see if I can find some Delphi coils off an application that would fit in my vehicles. With these coils and modern cheap+fast DSPs readily available it really shoul...

Re: Ion Sensing ideas and circuit designs
Does anyone know what car's use these coils? They look great but if you can't get them... not so useful.

Re: Ion Sensing ideas and circuit designs
That is really cool! Packaging the high voltage coil hardware in a reliable/low cost fashion is really the hard part. Do you have more details on the delphi parts? Pics, oem part numbers etc?

Re: Ion Sensing ideas and circuit designs
Anyone have any detailed info on OEM Ion sensing implementations? Not sure how many actually hit production other than the Saab DI system. Would be interested to hack one of those apart and see what parts they used... I've had a few of those pass through my hands over the years surfing salvage yards...
