Re: Project Renamed to MegaSquirt4 - April Fools 2014 COMMEN

This was a good one!
Didn't fool me, but sure gave me a good laugh :lol2:
A well thought out and implemented april fools joke!

I will admit to having some afterthoughts about it though, like "could this actually be real?"

Re: Otaniemi Flying Finns jumping on board the FreeEMS wagon!

Ahem... I had made a small (really quite minor) 10x calculation error in how many usable clock ticks we have between cycles. Our main electrics guy promptly didn't believe it would be so tight so I calculated it again  There should definitely be enough ticks available to make a full loop betwe...

Re: Otaniemi Flying Finns jumping on board the FreeEMS wagon!

Don't worry about that at all! See Agile Rule : Working software is the primary measure of progress I look forward to seeing exactly what you did and maybe swiping some of it :-) Don't worry, I'm cutting away happily. The damn controller is VERY slow, I don't think it will be able to do a...

Re: Otaniemi Flying Finns jumping on board the FreeEMS wagon!

The hardware is now in the final stretch. Some of the thinner wiring still to go, otherwise done. Hopefully will be getting the board made in 1.5weeks. Software is moving along. Regretfully I have been hacking up the FreeEMS code quite a lot. Our software will in no way be compatible with FreeEMS. B...

Re: Fred in the US of A - how does your couch look? (and smell?)

About the gps part. For real time driving instructions a "real" gps navigator is probably hard to beat. For cheapness all you need is a mobile device with gps and open-source gpsVP software. You can download the maps you will be using via a computer for instance just by scrolling though th...

Re: Otaniemi Flying Finns jumping on board the FreeEMS wagon!

We where unable to resolve our issues with Formula Student, so unfortunately we won't be attending that competition.

Looking forward to Formula Student Austria and Baltic Open.

Re: Otaniemi Flying Finns jumping on board the FreeEMS wagon!

We're using a knock-sensor chip hooked up to the SPI bus.

...Mainly because CAN chips are really difficult to find with net searches, and SPI is specific enough to turn up good hits.

Re: FREEEMS hardware schematic and PCB

Over at Otaniemi Flying Finns our electronics people are using kicad and apparently are quite happy with it. The user interface takes some getting use to, but after that is very efficient and powerful. As stated in the general section, our hardware is almost complete. Mayor work still needed with th...

Re: Otaniemi Flying Finns jumping on board the FreeEMS wagon!

The FS competition is on 16-19.7. at Silverstone.
Should be lots of really interesting stuff there. (We should be there, but I can't guarantee that though)

Our next competition is FSA (Formula Student Austria) 12-15.8.

And right after that a more layed back Baltic Open at Helsinki on 20-23.8.

Re: Otaniemi Flying Finns jumping on board the FreeEMS wagon!

We're now almost done with the electronics hardware. (lots of nice stuff)
Time is getting really tight to get everything done in a reasonable way to FS, but we should be able to just get there.

...although due to a unrelated matter we might not be allowed to even run at FS.
