Re: My open source Wideband Controller, SLC Free

The 28-pin DIP (through-hole) -24PXI is definitely "End of Life"; Digikey has 46 and won't order them past the 6th of July. Mouser has >1000 on the shelf, so there's still time to order some in. The 28-pin SOIC (SMT) -24SXI is apparently still going strong, and is the easiest of the SMT IC...

Better. ;)

(And yes, it's VR; no, no code dismantling - but there's no way of getting a usable zero-crossing signal out of a tooth 36 degrees in span!)

Re: Wideband Tailpipe Sniffer Tube Design - Input Wanted

Just pulling a number out of my, ummm, 'ear', without doing any reading or math, I'd say you'd want that FAST toy to stick a good 2-3 feet past the sensor to avoid pulses sucking fresh air all over it.

Re: 60-2 sync losses over ≈2k rpm

A couple comments ... First, the sync loss over 2k on a 60-2 is a known issue with the MAX992x over on the VoldeSquirt forums. While the code is different, the chip is the same, and the proven solution is a 10k shunt resistor across the VR+ & VR- inputs. OK, so to understand VR sensors, you have...

Dontz, do you have a phone number? I have many minutes per month to foreign lands, but rarely use them all up. It'd be my pleasure to discuss all of the above things that Ned has deemed inappropriate to discuss. His sentiments about me in the above posts have been repeated in person many times. We'...

Re: Hey, look, i built something! Neds MicroEMS

The thing is, the MACHINE isn't putting down a solder blob. It's an open solder jumper, filled in by the end user if needed. thats true, but in a perfect world, the ECU should be able to be used by any and all configurations of car, without opening the case after it leaves the factory Sure, that's ...

Re: Hey, look, i built something! Neds MicroEMS

Cool, questions, i like questions :) Ground wise, as you can see, the only things on PGND is the injectors and the low side drivers. They are all placed physicaly close to the PGND pins so that section of PCB could get poured with a PGND ground plane on top and bottom layer for a nice solid connect...

Re: Hey, look, i built something! Neds MicroEMS

Hi, Ned. Very nice! I do have a few questions / comments: 1. I don't understand the point of R83, and the comment about removing either R13 or R83. I can understand a 12v pull-up on a logic input, so long as the series resistor is sufficient to allow the shunt diodes to break down the voltage, but I...

Re: Masterkorp's Jaguar 0.4 alpha build.

Hmmmm, I don't like hearing logic level coils be called smart. There are quite a few types of ignitors/coils out there. Some are actually smart, others are just convenient. just coil + just transistor ignitor = dumb as they get just coil + logic level transistor ignitor = easier to use coil with bu...

Re: Solutions To Stop Bolts Backing Off

That gives you nut retention, but doesn't ensure your nut stays tight. If the nut is under any serious load, having it back off will cause damage, possibly stud breaking damage. Yamaha likes splined fold-over washers on the drive sprocket and clutch hubs, with high tightening torques and loads. Of ...
