Re: USB comms
It's a good hint to check what is done with the USB-shielding on your PCB: In noisy environments I noticed that it's better not to connect the shield with GND. On my own PCBs I keep the USB shield isolated from GND and only connected to case or other connectors shields. Just experiment - doesn't cos...

Great sense of humour.
Brilliant!

Re: MC233812
Just found this:
http://www.freescale.com/files/analog/d ... 2_P812.pdf
ECU on a chip - single or twin cylinders only.
Interesting for some applications. Single cylinder offroad bikes come to mind, integration of ECU (and most sensors ...) in throttlebody.

Re: VW Golf -89 Street/Trackday Car with ELMicro CardS12
Hi MrOnion,
the DC motor only moves the throttle stop.
To move the throttle stop in both directions you need a full bridge (aka H-bridge). Years ago I built one with 2 IRF7389 and this moved the throttle stop perfectly.
Cheers,
GJ

- Delete D43 and D44 as the LM2937 is already reverse protected - DONE 04/15/2012 Hi Andy, I highly recommend to keep them! Yes, the voltage regulators are reverse polarity proof - but the polarized caps (C12, C13) are not. Besides, the diodes help buffering positive voltage in the caps. Without, C...

Re: Free EMS ECU for Honda VFR800
In case of the BMW bikes, I'm absolutely sure.
Attached, you find a datasheet of the questioned TPS (in German, unfortunately).
See "Kennlinie 1 und 2" on page 2.
Cheers,
GJ

Re: Free EMS ECU for Honda VFR800
The sensors look pretty normal. Just read about his BOSCH TPS with two outputs. I know them very well, they're stock on fuel injected BMW motorcycles (R1100 ... R1150). I like the throttle bodies of this bikes for different reasons for my projects but regularly replace the stock TPS. The idea behin...

Re: Project JAGuar for FreeEMS
Lumpensack, why do you say "or even FTDI's famous ferrite bead" ie, why "or even"? Do you feel that it's inferior to a resistor? I'm curious! Good catch on the pull downs! Fred. Hi Fred, the ferrite is for sure the best solution, but sometimes hard to get (especially locally ......

Re: Project JAGuar for FreeEMS
Just looked over the schematics, here are the quirks I noted so far: - all pull-down resistors of the CPU should be tied to CPU-GND (i.e. not Output-GND) - upstream of the capacitors at the Vin pin of each voltage regulator there should be a schottky diode like SS12 or SS24. This will prevent bleedi...
