Re: Knock sensing ideas and circuit designs

The problem on a simple threshold plus a window is that the integrator which is attached after the HW/SW filter set also integrates noise or other stuff. It is essential to have an idea how my raw signal looks like. Human can see if something is going wrong but computer can't. If the Phytec PCM028 b...

Re: Knock sensing ideas and circuit designs

To make knock detection available on a DIY device the trace data should be accessible by serial port or something similar. Not everyone has got a scope to do this and for saving a trace signal you need a expensive scope. As proposed by Dan the waveform should be sampled by the MCU itself for this re...

Re: Why 16BIT? Why Not 32BIT?

The only real handy cap like Fred said is 32-bit number crunching, but as a whole the XDP is WELL QUALIFIED for the job. The XDP variant of freeems will kick ass for sure. As for XGATE, because its only suitable for certain tasks we may be able to get away with the free/special version of CW allowi...

Re: Why 16BIT? Why Not 32BIT?

Which 32 bit cores (and boards!) did you have in mind? Regardless of where we are at, I'm keen to learn about them :-) the new MPC5633M from Freescale is in my opinion a suited device for DIY powertrain: That's great, but you missed the bit in bold. For this to be fairly successful it needs to be e...

Which 32 bit cores (and boards!) did you have in mind? Regardless of where we are at, I'm keen to learn about them :-) Hi, the new MPC5633M from Freescale is in my opinion a suited device for DIY powertrain: - compatible to exsiting MPC55xx PowerPC familiy - 144pin LQFP - plenty of processing power...
