Re: ECU knock option worth it?
There really isn't a great difference between 87 and 90 octane. You may see a slight difference in low speed torque with 90 octane and an even smaller difference in fuel economy but on an engine that's not super high compression they'll make the same power up top.

Re: ECU knock option worth it?
I have tuned hundreds of cars and only used knock control on very few of them actually. I always monitor knock during tuning to make sure I am not too close to knocking at full load. The thing with knock control is it needs careful calibration to make it work, and some applications don't lend themse...

Re: Widebands That You Would or Wouldn't Buy
Yeah, then, I would not go with the Innovate controllers for your setup. The PLX uses a special USB/serial adapter because it doesn't use the standard RS232 voltages. So, you have to get the adapter from them, directly. I don't remember if the DM-6 has a pass-thru output so that you can still use t...

Re: Widebands That You Would or Wouldn't Buy
It does not, no buttons. It looks just like the old gauge, just has an LSU4.9 sensor instead of the LSU4.2 the older units used.HelmutVonAutobahn wrote:

Re: Widebands That You Would or Wouldn't Buy
I have no idea. It uses an LSU4.9 sensor and it included a bung to weld into the exhaust as well as a spare face in white.HelmutVonAutobahn wrote:Is that the old 30-4110 or the new 30-0300 ?

Re: Widebands That You Would or Wouldn't Buy
Another thing, I installed one of those LSU4.9 AEM deals the other day and when the car is idling the wide band analog output oscillates at around 2Hz. It looks like the analog output dips for 120ms every 500ms or so. It seems less prevalent at higher engine speeds, possibly because there it's opera...

Re: Widebands That You Would or Wouldn't Buy
The old AEM gauges were horrible. The analog output was nowhere close to the specifications. The new LSU4.9 gauges seem to have that problem fixed.

Re: Chrysler 42RE Transmission Controller Brainstorming
Bumping an old thread, kudos to you for finding out this information about how that damn governor works. I have successfully configured an ECU to control a 44RE transmission, without writing a single line of code, just using a mapped general purpose PWM output mapped by road speed and throttle to co...

Re: Standalone selection for Toyota 4runner
I have about 50 MS based installs under my belt and about 10 on VEMS. I'm going to say that it's possible to do a good job with almost any ECU within reason. If your tuner can't get the job done and can't come up with an explanation for why your spark isn't steady try finding another one who is fami...

Re: Home made engine dynamometer with Superflow absorber
It does, the run starts after load has stabilised at 3000RPM.
