Re: noname build

A few gallons of denatured or methyl alcohol in the sump will dry out the engine, follow it with an abundance of oil, fill it right up. This assumes relatively clean fresh water. If it was salty, or silty, rinse several times with fresh clean water first. Figure out a way to spin the oil pump to rin...

Re: Fred's 1987 Volvo 240 GL Sedan - Notes and Debate

Definitely swap over those sways. As far as the seat swap, rather than reskin the passenger and put it in the wagon's driver position, swap the foam out instead. The seats are handed, and if you are planning moving the upholstery, it's the same job. Before you crush, grab the hardware on the trailer...

Re: sim's Volvo 245 comments

Having read through both the upstream thread: http://forum.diyefi.org/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=1263 And this thread: http://forum.diyefi.org/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=1262 I am acutely aware that i have abused the original author's no-comments thread. Hence here I am adding another post to the 9 pag...

Re: Rules instead of maps?

Hmmm OK so I think I'd like to have ago at making a virtual mathematical engine which I could write control algorithms for and run on a virtual dyno to see how well the control algorithm works. I can see this being very useful but it would have to do a decent job of replicating a real engines oddit...

Re: sim's Volvo 245

Well, I finally got around to installing the engine I bought in 2011. http://puddle.ca/~sim/volvo/Snot_Rocket/B230F_Swap/Leaning_on_crane.jpg No more blue smoke out of the tail pipe. No more farty 1980s chevy van exhaust noises. No more smoke curling up around the edges of the hood. Once I figured o...

Re: 1-2-Spark and 1-2-Squirt...

Now what does a regular 36-1 tooth chip do... It measures lets say 5 or ten times per revelution (6000rpm) where the crankshaft is at the moment and does then its calculations.. Then a lag factor goes on top of this, now tell me how accurate is this???? It is so wrong that the software even has a p...

Re: IMPORTANT Jaguar A3, 0.4, 0.6 & 0.7 BOM & Parts Kit Erro

I've finally fixed mine.

No difference observed after a few drives, which is good, because it means I didn't screw it up.

Thanks,
