Re: Lead Acid Battery Desulphator circuit
I did get one of the Jaycar / Silicon_Chip kits a while back but wasn't that impressed with it. I had better results using an ARC welder to zap a NICAD pack in a cordless drill. That didn't cost anything and worked brilliantly. Save your money and put it towards a gell-cell lead acid battery, like t...

Re: Discussion of Number 10
Don't forget the difference in Octane rating. I believe the US uses MON as opposed to Australia & (possibly) NZ that use RON or they use Rating# = (RON + MON)/2 This explanes why some service stations have "crap" fuel while still meeting the required rating number. As Peter's 92 MON is...

Re: Images/Ideas for road going race car project
Yep, I'm still lurking. I'm trying to keep track of most posts and still learning more and more, not just on this forum but in many different areas. When I have some useful input I'll chime in. ;) I found another link http://engineeredtoslide.com/category/ets-drift-ute/ , still not a mid mount and i...

Re: Images/Ideas for road going race car project
I don't think the Ford Modular v8 would be a good base unless you choose the 4.6L version from the US. The 5.4L found in the Falcons has a long stroke which results in a very high piston speed. Are there many Nissan quad-cam v6's still available in NZ? Have you thought about bolting an engine to a t...

Great looking manifold & throttlebodies.
What size injectors are you using?
I was considering doing something similar but ended up buying a Holley/Weiand Stelth-Ram manifold. I might have to modify or manufacture a new plenum to get it to fit under the bonnet though.

E-TEC Direct Injection
I found this link;
http://corp.brp.com/NR/rdonlyres/3F0275 ... ounder.pdf
that shows information on the BRP E-TEC direct injection.
Have a look at page-6 for the injectors.

Project Template
Does anyone have a few good project templates that they could share? I'm trying to find some that would be useful for tracking development work and document progress. For eg. developing a circuit (like a turbo timer as an example), developing a new automotive part, developing an automated piece of m...

Re: Gear Ratios and Speed Vs RPM Calculations
I'd be interested in having a look at that some time.
I have had a bit of fun over the years using the engine simulator in the "NIRA Drags" game. Bigger is not always better with the many settings.

Gear Ratios and Speed Vs RPM Calculations
For those of you who are trying to decide on a engine/gearbox/diff/tyre combination. Thought I'd share this spread sheet I made. It calculates and graphs "Speed Vs RPM" when you enter in; redline, tyre diameter (in inches or you can overwrite the cell B5 with the diameter in cm), gear rati...

Re: 36-1 wheel
Finally got the 36-1 wheel mounted up. Next step is to make the hall-sensor/VR-sensor bracket using the two holes on the front of the block, currently being used by the alternator bracket. http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p464/long283/Car/Phone_Jul160_sm.jpg I used a TIG to tack a large nut on the...
