Re: 14point7.com SLC_OEM I2C Support

I've got a gazillion miles on them and they're great. The floating point bit is a little annoying, but manageable.

Alan is also a great guy to deal with anytime you need anything.

Re: XGATE + S12X Concurrency Issues

I think that it's a false observation. If both cores desire access, S12 wins. Define "unsafe"? I belive you're thinking of requesting access to a hardware semaphore. Im talking about reading/writing to a *shared register without a condom on. It doesn't crash. I've abused that quite a bit ...

Re: Quick hardware review... Cheap USB scope

It can't do I2C or SPI, but it can do CAN/LIN bus. For I2c or SPI, the Salae Logic is still a winner and it's also super cheap. I paid ~$285 USD with shipping from Taobao (Chinese Ebay/Amazon), including an ignition probe. After making this post, I started looking and it doesn't appear that they hav...

Quick hardware review... Cheap USB scope

I recently needed a 4-channel scope for some diagnostics. I really didn't want to fork over the $2k+ USD to Tektronix, so I figured I'd give one of those cheap-ass USB machines a whirl. Some of them (Pico) are quite expensive. I settled on the Hantek (Cheap Chinese). A 4 channel 60Mhz scope for abou...

Re: Building FreeEMS on MacOS X

I'm crunching through your guide right now, and I have a couple of updates: 1) If you didn't enable the unstable branch, when you do, you'll need to run a 'fink selfupdate' to pull in the packages, otherwise it will complain that the package doesn't exist 2) Looks like m681x-binutils has been fixed...

Re: MC233812

We're playing around with one of these:

Similar in concept to the 33812 mentioned here, but with more ports and less accessorial stuff.

Re: Building freems on MacOS

Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) These instructions cover building Freeems on Snow Leopard. I don’t have a machine running original Leopard right now, so 10.6 is all you’re going to get. In theory, this should all work on 10.5, but YMMV. Download and install Xcode http://developer.apple.com/technolog...

Building FreeEMS on MacOS X

I'm new to this forum and to ECU hacking in general, so I think a quick introduction is in order. I'm located in Chicago, USA and am endeavoring to build an ECU for a genset unit. My ultimate goal is to have complete control and monitoring of my power generators over IP. Obviously, that's a pretty l...
